C.A.R.E. - Character and Relationship Education
Our Character and Relationship Program is designed to help teenagers set healthy personal goals for their future. We provide unique and specifically designed curricula for students in 6th through 12th grades in Houston, Henry and Geneva Counties as well as community and church youth organizations. This program encourages teenagers to avoid all at-risk behavior through a positive hope-based message and promotes sexual abstinence until marriage. One of the most successful methods we use is to show a strong link between the everyday choices students make and the success of their future.
Using the Relationship Smarts® curricula, we have developed an age appropriate levelized program
- 6th grade – The focus is on Maturity Issues and Personal values. We encourage students to answer the question, “Who am I and where am I Going?”
- 7th grade – Discusses the proper context of attraction and infatuation. Students are challenged to answer, “Is it a Healthy Relationship?”
- 8th and 9th grade – Teaches the Principals of Smart Relationships and how to take a Decide Don’t Slide approach to relationships.*
- High School level – Addresses Social Media and Communication as well as Pitfalls and Regrets of sexual choices. At this level our goal is to help students develop an understanding of intimacy with an age appropriate and healthy expression.*
*At the Teenage grade levels (8th and up) the program discusses Abstinence as one certain way to avoid out-of-wedlock pregnancy, sexually transmitted illnesses and other health problems.
We also offer workshops to local churches to help youth pastors provide parents with the most up-to-date information regarding negative pressures and positive ways to build parent-teen relationships. Trained and experienced facilitators conduct all classes.
